The bodies are anonymous, rotting in the shallows of the Straits of Gibraltar. The fortunate ones are dragged out for a hasty burial. They are Africans trying to make it to Europe, betting their lives on a nine-mile ride, thousands losing that bet each year.
Spain used to be an open door for illegal immigrants. An estimated one-quarter of all smuggled immigrants into Europe came through the Southern coast of Spain, most setting off from Morocco.
The sticks and stones of frustrated border guards had little effect against a rising tide of human traffic.
But all that changed on March 11. Most of the terrorists who killed 190 people on commuter trains in Madrid were Moroccan. Suddenly, the immigrant problem was a security problem.
Under pressure at home and from other European nations, rubber batons at the border were replaced by speedboats but success, so far, is limited.
“The numbers are down here by 50 percent,” said Lt. David Oliva of the Spanish Border Guard. “But the smugglers are just moving to other parts of the coast.”
Although only nine miles separate Africa from Europe, that stretch contains some of the most dangerous currents in the world. Now, some people in Africa are so desperate, they are ready to pay $1,000 a head just to get across, and they’ll take their chances on anything that floats.
Seventy-five people from the Moroccan village of Tangier drowned trying to cross the waters last month. When FOX News approached families of the victims, they started to cry. One man lost 21 relatives.
With no electricity, jobs, education, or running water, there is nothing to do but wait for someone to get them out of the area. “These people are so desperate they are ready to die,” said Khalil Jemmah, a Moroccan aid worker. “It’s just a question of who gets here first, the smugglers or the terrorists.”
More often than not, it’s the terrorists who are getting there first.
It was a Moroccan who is accused of killing filmmaker Theo Van Gogh in the Netherlands this month. The murder set off weeks of ethnic and religious clashes and skirmishes in Spain in what may eventually become a pan-European battle, fueled by the failure to integrate a new, illegal Muslim population.

WHO Sees No Sign of Virus Slowdown

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced on Wednesday that the outbreak of swine flu shows clear signs of spreading around the world.
[Dr. Keiji Fukuda, WHO Official]: “It is clear that the virus is spreading and we don’t see any evidence of this slowing down at this point.”
With Germany and Austria reporting cases, nine countries are now affected and WHO is moving closer to raising its pandemic alert to the second highest level possible.
[Dr. Keiji Fukuda, WHO Official]: “As the outbreak evolves we are moving close to phase five, so we are moving closer to that but I don’t think we are quite there yet.”
Nearly a week after the threat first emerged in Mexico, Spain reports its first case in Europe of swine flu in a person who had not been to Mexico, underscoring the threat of person-to-person transmission.
Fukuda says that report of the Spanish case suggests the virus is spreading more easily.
Six confirmed cases in the Barcelona region brings the total in Spain to ten.
[Marina Geli, Catalan Health Minister]: “We can confirm that in Catalonia we have six out of the 10 cases of swine flu in Spain. This is a virological confirmation of the presence of the swine flu virus in human beings.”
Geli says the patients have responded well to treatment and most of them have returned home.
The anti-viral drug Oseltamivir, commonly known as Tamiflu, is being used to treat the virus in a Barcelona hospital.
[Dr. Antono Trilla, Epidemiologist]: “One of the features of Tamiflu is that it is very effective when used as a precautionary measure. When we have a suspicious case we start to administer the drug, then, if the case is not confirmed, we stop the treatment which lasts for five days.”
H1N1 swine flu poses the biggest risk of a large-scale pandemic since avian flu re-emerged in 2003.

It was made whilst i had no job or money.. on my jobseekers benefit budget….

This is the first part of the Original 33 minute version.
For those who watched a version of the film last halloween….This is very different…
I tried to explain at the time of showing that the film was not finished…It was infact only about half done….
This version contains 6 more scenes and over 400 new tracks of audio…
Due to one of the actresses having illness in her family which has thankfully now gone…more scenes were shot after the initial preview …I also spent a month in my parents garage recording most of the score…
What was heard at the preview was only the basis of the score….now you will hear lots more defined sounds, actual music!!! and scares…
I left the film for six months whilst working on other projects…..and i then returned to it when moving to spain….The break has helped me understand what i really wanted the film to be….For a while i was lost …this was because of it being sick to death of it…Ha Ha ( anyone who has every made a film on there own will understand) Ha…anyway thats my smallest violin in the world part out the way…Here it is…… I also will be releasing the score for download soon…..
The compression quality for this is a bit shit…Hence the 4 parts…… But ill upload it somewhere else soon In a bigger size.
