“We left the safety of Alicante to make our way further down the coast towards Cartagena in what was predicted to be a 15 – 20 knot breeze. I say “predicted to be” as the weather forecasts and we have 3 sources, have been proven to be wrong and grossly at that. And so 1hr along, the Med typical as ever decided to change her mind and whip up to a 35 – 40 knot gale. So from skipping along nicely it quickly went to be tossed around in a washing machine where everything was falling from cupboards and shelves which is an unusual occurrence for a cat. Once we secured everything again, Tom and Zac went back to the laptops as if nothing unusual was happening, Zac watching DVD’s and Tom on MSN talking with his mate Cullum. Harri went up with Pete to the helm and berated him for ruining his life and I went to my cabin and hid my head under the dooner. What choice did I have… Fortunately it only lasted for a couple of hours as we made our way into the relative serenity of the marina in Torrevieja.

The wind has been howling here for the last few days with gusts over 40knts and while we sit on our boat and hope it doesnt break lose we watch in horror as 5 boats (very large and expensive) on the Marina opposite us are being smashed together with bits of wood, fibreglass and stainless steel crunching and grinding. Not sure were the guys who work on the Marina are but I would be one very unhappy customer when I came to check on my boat next.The good thing about being holed up here unable to move is that it gives the boys a good chance to get stuck into their school work which is often hard to do while we are constantly moving.

Our American crew member Zac has hit his 1 year anniversary of travelling and we celebrated it in style at Murphy’s Irish Pub right here at the marina. One of the best meals I’ve had in Spain, sad isnt it….. The night was made even better as the boys were able to watch soccer on the big screen, made for interesting conversation… Lucky I didnt have far to walk home on my own as they watched the remainder of the game…..

On the last night the boys went to a fair thats along the boardwalk for a bit of bullriding and game playing. I’m not sure if Tom and Harri concquered the bulls but managed to have a good time anyway. They came home in a good mood and as I read quitely in bed they decided to pickup were they left off at the fair… Why didnt God give me girls ?…..”
